Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock as born in Arlington, Virginia, on July 26, 1964. As Achild, Sandra or "sandy" as she was known, often performed in the children's chorus of productions her mother appeared in. It was her mother, an opera singer, that is believed to have planted the bug to perform in her daughter.
Bullock attended ECU (East Carolina University) where she almost graduated with a degree in theatre arts. She left just three credits shy of gradutaing to pursue her acting career in New York. While she had little trouble locating acting work, she didn't actually become famous until she appeared with Keanu reeves in the 1994 hit Speed.
Bullock is regarded as one of the hardest working and most beloved actresses in Hollywood, and holds the unique distinction of winning awards for being both the best and worst actress in the same year (2010 for The Blindside). She is currently in the process of separating from her husband Jesse James, but is still plowing ahead with her career.
