Born on April 25th 1940 in New York, Al Pacino's film acting career began to come to prominence in the 1970s with roles in The Godfather, Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon. It was in 1984, with his role as Tony Montana in Scarface that he became legendary, and it is for this role that many of his fans remember him. He has never sat on his laurels, however, and has continued to act in a number of memorable films, including Scent of a Woman, Frankie and Johnny, The Devil's Advocate and Ocean's Thirteen. He won an Oscar and Golden Globe for his role in Scent of a Woman and Golden Globes for Serpico and Angels in America.
Pacino has three films in the pre-production stage: King Lear, Mary Mother of Christ and The Son of No One.
Pacino's private life has generally been kept exactly that - private. He has never married; however, he does have a daughter, Julie Marie, with a former girlfriend and he now has twins with his current long-term partner, Beverly d'Angelo.
