Daniel Radcliffe is one of Britain's most famous actors, following his role as Harry Potter in the film versions of J K Rowling's books. Born on 23 July 1989 in London, he starred in several school productions before winning the role of David Copperfield in a BBC TV production. That was followed by a role in The Tailor of Panama in 2001, along with Pierce Brosnan and Geoffrey Rush.
It was in 2000 that his real claim to fame was to be achieved when he was chosen by Chris Columbus to play Harry Potter in the first film of the series - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He is now famous world-wide for the role in both that film and the others in the series. However, he has proved to be more than just a one-trick pony, having won roles in a number of other plays and films, including Equus, a stage play in which he appeared naked, and December Boys, an Australian film.
