The Phenomenon that is Susan Boyle.

SUSAN BOYLE

One of Britain's Got Talent's, stand out performers to date, for 2009 is Susan Boyle. She appeared on a televised version, of her January 2009 audition for BGT, on 11th April 2009 and has reached global fame already, despite the fact that the competition is still only at the auditions stage.

Susan was one of those performers that it is all too easy to pre-judge. Often those that are rubbish performers may be a little eccentric, not very glamorous, or perhaps just a little different. This was Susan Boyle. She walked out on to the BGT stage looking every inch anything but a star.

Aged 47 Susan looked older than her years. She was dressed smartly but in old fashioned and unflattering clothes. Her hairstyle was frumpy and instantly the judges, audience, and me, thought "Oh no this will be a disaster". Well it was lovely to be proved wrong.

Susan said that she aspired to be another Elaine Paige, despite Simon's initial statement. Susan is currently enjoying fame and glory with the press following her around the small village where she lives in Scotland.

Britain's Got Talent

Britain's got Talent follows the same format as America's Got Talent and for that matter any others that may exist around the world. Prospective entertainers such as singers, ventriloquists, magicians, dance troupes, and more, all audition in the hope of making the finals and ultimately winning the competition. As with most of these competitions often the auditions are the most entertaining part as we see a long line of terrible entertainers willingly make fools of themselves making the viewers roar with laughter.

Updates on Susan Boyle

Susan's debut album is called I Dreamed A Dream. A fitting title indeed.

It is an excellent album and it is hard to believe that this is Susan's first album. Well done Suebo.

It was great to see Susan Boyle on the main news in the UK again. Wednesday 16th September showed Susan arriving in America to a mob of fans. How lovely after the difficult year she has had and the inconsistencies of British fans and the press over here.

Susan was in the States to make an appearance on the final of America's Got Talent 2009. Today, thursday 17th, we have seen reports of her success. With a version of Wild Horses Susan looked confident and relaxed and the audience loved her. The shows viewing figures reached dizzying heights.

Susan's debut album will be in stores November 24th 2009 and looks set to be higely successful.

23rd JULY 2009

Well let's hope that Susan's period of ill health is well and truly behind her now. It was lovely seeing clips of her recent American television interview on UK TV yesterday, 22nd July 2009. She looked to be in good health and as Susan stated had "brushed up quite well". Susan appeared calm, composed but with the cheeky, chirpy personality that charmed so many people during the 2009 Britain's Got Talent competition.

As the photo below shows Susan has undergone yet another transformation and I have to say she looks fabulous.

It would seem that America has taken Susan more to its heart than the UK has. President Barack Obhama even re-scheduled his press conference to accomodate Susan's appearance on TV in the USA.

Keep going girl.

If it is true that no news is good news then perhaps life is improving again for Susan. I found that today, 9th July 2009. there was little news to be unearthed, about Susan, on line. I know her health had continued to cause concern, just after the BGT final, and there were rumours that she would be pulling oit of that show's nationwide tour.

I will keep my ears and eyes open and report any news as it comes in.

For now we must hope that no news really is good news for Susan Boyle.

on Jun 03, 09 at 07:35 PM

The latest regarding Susan is more positive than of late. It is reported that she is suffering exhaustion which, although not good, is better than the initial diagnosis made in the media. Susan has been offered a recording contract with Simon Cowell. Her decision will be made when her returns to normal health.

It is reported today also that President Obhama has invited Susan to perform in America for the 4th July celebrations. Looks like we may all be in for a treat very soon.

BORN

Blackburn, West Lothian, West Scotland, 1961

Pretty Susan as a child

SEX

Female

OCCUPATION

Susan has followed a few paths in her working life without much success. At present she is an amateur singer and church volunteer. She has taken singing and acting lessons and has participated at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. In 1999 she recorded a charity CD for her local church of "Cry Me A River". This was part of the millenium celebrations.

SIBLINGS

Four brothers and six sisters.

PROBLEMS

According to the press Susan had some health issues when being born and was labelled as having "learning difficulties". This led to local bullies at school calling her simple Susan.

PERSONAL LIFE

Susan sings karaoke at the pub in her village and is a well known and liked figure. She has never been married and lives alone with her cat. Only now she has a myriad of paparazzi holding court outside her home. She famously told Simon that she had never been kissed but refutes that statement now.

Susan sang a beautiful rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream", which was mostly unheard due to the cheers from the audience. Her voice was totally unexpected. It was lovely to see her confidence grow as she performed. Ant and Dec, the backstage hosts of the show showed just how petite Susan is, as they are not tall and she was tiny next to them. They also had to support her, almost physically as she left the stage on a high.

Susan and Oprah

FAME

The American people, especially, have really taken Susan to their hearts. Her YouTube videos receive massive amounts of hits and she has been asked to guest on shows such as Oprah in the States.

Makeover

MAKEOVER

Susan is receiving advice from all over the place about making over her image. However this should be down to her. I saw her recently in a leather jacket and dress which really she looked ill at ease in. Accept Susan for being Susan and the voice that she has.

SUSAN BOYLE TRIVIA.

She practices her singing holding a hairbrush to represent a microphone.

She does this looking in the mirror.

She is quite a comedian.

I am a fan of Susan Boyle. Her voice is so lovely that it reminds me of a beautiful spring day. One in which a lone kite flies against a forever blue sky. Susan is a miracle.

It was a contest of talent. Not"who looks the best" or "who has the nicest hairdo". Susan Boyle sings. Now, if you could not see her face"like on a radio" -yeah they are still around.....how would you classify that singer? Because that is what her talent is--- not dancing; not juggling knives; not smiling pretty and having wavy hair, etc. Stage presentation has nothing to do with it (as many a recording artist spends their time in recording booths). We are too quick to judge...if it looks awful, everything about it is awful. Obviously, it is not the case.

I love Susan. She's a champion for all of us "ugly ducklings". When she started to sing I could see the transformation. She slowly turned into a beautiful swan. I was totally swept away.

Susan Boyle interview for Britain's Got Talent

Interview with Susan Boyle.

BGT: So Susan, how have you found the last ten days?

SB: I’ve found them extremely hectic but also very enjoyable. It’s been a whirlwind really and has taken a bit of getting used to – but I’m having a wail of a time.

BGT: Bet it’s been absolutely crazy?

SB: Exactly that! I just cannot believe all of this is happening to me, it’s all been tremendous.

BGT: What do you make of all the support you’ve been getting?

SB: I think it’s wonderful, out of this world! I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams that all of this could happen to someone like me.

BGT: You’ve appeared on a few American chat-shows this week via satellite, how have you found that experience?

SB: I can only say that it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybody everywhere for their support! I was even on the Larry King chat show - talking on the phone. I hadn’t even heard of all these shows before this week!

BGT: What did you make of Larry?

SB: He was a very nice man. Very professional, and very funny, he made me laugh lots!

BGT: We hear you’ve been invited on the Oprah Winfrey Show as well, will you go?

SB: Who knows?! I suppose it would be rude not to wouldn’t it? If the invitation has been made I’d be glad to accept sometime, I mean, everyone’s heard of her… she’s quite a lady! But I’m busy with this show at the moment.

BGT: What show?

SB: Britain’s Got Talent of course! I’m just taking baby-steps and seeing how things progress.

BGT: The Hollywood actress Demi Moore is supposedly a huge fan of yours, do you find that a bit weird?!

SB: I am totally flattered to be honest with you. People have asked me if I want to meet her when all this is over with, but I tell them all the same: I’m taking this one day at a time.

BGT: Did you hear your idol, Elaine Paige, say on her Radio 2 show that she would like to do a duet with you?

SB: Yes that news did reach me… and all I can say is WOW!  She is my favourite performer so to sing with her would be great – it’d be a real honour.

BGT: Your Britain’s Got Talent audition is set to become the most viewed video clip of all time on YouTube, how does that make you feel?

SB: I can’t really put into words how that makes me feel… it’s just too incredible, I’d just like to thank everyone out there for all of their support. I only just learnt what YouTube was in the last week!

BGT: What’s the reaction in your hometown been like?

SB: Absolutely brilliant! I’ve had people stopping me in the street wishing me well, everyone has been really nice. I couldn’t have asked for any more.

BGT: How have you coped with all of the autograph hunters?

SB: Well my arms are sore from signing them! It does all feel rather strange people asking for them though.

BGT: We hear you’re going to appear in a movie Susan, is that true?

SB: [Laughs] No comment!

BGT: And what about these rumours that people want to write books about you?

SB: I’ve been told I have had a few offers, but the most important thing in my life at the moment is the Britain’s Got Talent show, everything else can wait for now, this all takes quite some getting used to but luckily lots of people are helping me out.

BGT: Back at your audition you let on that you had a soft spot for Piers Morgan. Since then he has invited you to London for a romantic date at a fancy restaurant… are you excited by that?

SB: I am! He’s a very nice man – but that’s all I’ll say about it, you’ll have to wait and see how that goes!

BGT: Finally, if you could give a message to all of the Susan Boyle fans out there, what would it be?

SB: I’d just like to thank everybody out there from the bottom of my heart. It’s so wonderful what you are all doing for me – I promise to do my best… fingers crossed!

HOPES FOR THE FUTURE

Whatever the future brings for Susan Boyle I do hope that the press do not lift her up just to drop her when the mood has passed. Win or lose at BGT Susan is already a big winner. Let's hope that she stays that way and receives the support she needs and deserves.

Jones set to play Boyle?

Catherine Zeta-Jones reportedly wants to play Susan Boyle in a movie version of her rapid rise to fame. Let's hope that one does not happen.
